Mary Shang
Undergraduate Researcher
Hi! My name is Mary. I’m a rising senior at Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in Biology on the Genomics and Computational Biology track and minoring in CS. I have a deep passion for research in genetics/genomics/epigenetics and cancer biology. Alongside a classmate at WashU, I discovered a novel bacteriophage and contributed to the characterization and annotation of its genome. I’ve also been involved in research at the Wang lab on zebrafish fin regeneration, where I’ve helped validate key enhancers active in the regeneration process. I am currently expanding my skills into computational areas and am excited to dive into single-cell transcriptomic analysis. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting and watching movies.
