Yuxin Shi, BS

Staff Researcher

Hi! My name is Yuxin Shi, and my background is in population genetics and genomics research. I have been working at Cornell since 2009. In my previous roles with Drs. Jason Mezey Susan McCouch, my work has involved numerous aspects of data analysis and management, including Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), expression Quantitative Trait Loci (eQTL), DNA methylation and gene expression analysis for Drosophila, plants, mice, and humans. I also contributed to the design of the McCouch Lab application, MontyDB, a Genotype Browser web application for dynamically exploring rice genomic, haplotype, and GWAS/eQTL peak localization. Additionally, I have worked on developing structural equation pedigree prediction models for disease risk and applying these frameworks to UK Biobank data.  I'm now excited to expand into complex human diseases by working with single-cell RNA sequencing datasets, focusing on understanding the unique functioning of immune cells in patient and control cohorts. Outside of research, I love enjoying in my hobbies of cooking, hiking, biking, and spending quality time with family and friends.
